From the beginning of its operations, VEF has received excellent support from various institutions and organizations in both the United States and Vietnam.
In the United States, among the major relationships, from 2003 to 2011, VEF worked closely with the National Academies (NA) in developing the selection process for VEF Fellowships, which included selecting suitable and highly qualified scientists/professors to go to Vietnam to conduct the oral exam and interview candidates as well as give seminars and workshops. The NA also assisted VEF in establishing and developing various special projects and programs, including the organization of the Annual Conferences for VEF Fellows and Scholars from 2003 until 2009. Besides the NA, VEF has developed close relationships with U.S. universities interested in VEF Fellows and Scholars by establishing agreements with leading institutions. This consortium of universities, called the VEF Alliance, presently consists of over 100 top-level institutions. In addition to university partnerships, in an effort to bolster the internal S&T capacity in Vietnam, VEF has worked with the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) and the Scientific Initiative Group (SIG) in Princeton, N.J., to help Vietnam establish Centers of Excellence in S&T. Furthermore, the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC), another important partner, has co-sponsored seminars and conferences in Vietnam.
In Vietnam, VEF has established a wide network of relationships with Vietnamese institutions and organizations that are high quality and have established reputations in S&T fields. These entities, which are typically universities, research institutes, and government agencies, include the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the Vietnamese Academy of Science & Technology (VAST), and the Vietnam National University - Hanoi (VNU-Hanoi) as well as the Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCMC). Not only do these institutions and organizations serve as a major source of VEF Fellows and Visiting Scholars, but they also serve as host institutions for VEF U.S. Faculty Scholars and VEF seminars, workshops, and short courses.
VEF highly appreciates the assistance and involvement of these and numerous other organizations and institutions in Vietnam and in the United States that help VEF carry out its mission.
