Lecture Program conducted within the Interview Mission every year

PURPOSE: VEF arranges for American experts, who are visiting Vietnam under VEF sponsorship, to give lectures at Vietnamese academic institutions or research institutes.

TIME: January 2004 - August 2012

OUTCOMES:

• January and August 2004: 33 American professors, representing 26 different U.S. academic institutions, volunteered to give 25 presentations or lectures at 15 Vietnamese host institutions and universities. They also gave 2 live online interviews and 1 network television interview and 1 professor visited a catfish farm in the Mekong Delta.
• 2005: Fourteen American professors, representing 13 different U.S. academic institutions, volunteered to give 26 presentations or lectures at 15 Vietnamese host institutions and universities. One professor also gave an online interview.
• 2006: Thirteen American professors, including 1 Board Member, and a program officer from NSF, representing 14 different U.S. academic institutions, volunteered to give 52 lectures or presentations at 21 Vietnamese host institutions and universities. Two professors gave interviews online and 8 professors participated in 2 sessions on how to get into graduate school in the United States at EducationUSA in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
• 2007: Sixteen American professors, representing 14 different U.S. academic institutions, volunteered to give 19 lectures at 16 Vietnamese host institutions and universities. The Board Chairman gave an online presentation.
• 2008: Nine American scientists/experts, representing 8 U.S. universities conducted 21 lectures at 17 Vietnamese host academic institutions or organizations in locations throughout Vietnam.
• 2009: Eight American professors, representing eight different U.S. academic institutions, volunteered to give 16 lectures at 10 Vietnamese host institutions and universities.
• 2010: Eight American professors, representing different U.S. academic institutions, volunteered to give lectures at seven Vietnamese host institutions and universities.
• 2011: Eight American professors, each representing different U.S. academic institutions, volunteered to give lectures or to conduct scientific or specialized meetings with faculty members and students at seven 7 host academic institutions or organizations in Vietnam.
• 2012: Ten American professors, each representing a different U.S. academic institution, volunteered to give 30 lectures, presentations and/or scientific or specialized meetings with faculty members and students at 13 academic institutions or organizations in Vietnam. The Executive Director and a Board Member gave a presentation for the U.S. Guide Conference, and the Sr. Program Officer gave a talk at the Embassy in HCM City on Financial Aid.
