Welcome to the Vietnam Education Foundation! We are pleased that you have learned about us and have chosen to visit our website.
The Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) is an independent U.S. Federal Government agency created by the U.S. Congress. VEF receives an annual budget of U.S. $5 million from the U.S. Congress until 2018. The mission of VEF is to strengthen the U.S.-Vietnam bilateral relationship through educational exchanges in the STEMM fields. We carry out our mission by providing opportunities for Vietnamese nationals to pursue graduate and post-graduate studies in these fields in the United States, and for American citizens to teach in the same fields of study in Vietnam. In short, we invest in the human capital of Vietnam and believe that we ourselves will become better from such investment.
VEF is governed by a Board of Directors including U.S. Cabinet Members, U.S. Senators and Representatives, and Presidential Appointees. The VEF headquarters is located in Arlington, Virginia, which is next to Washington, D.C., while the VEF Vietnam Field Office is located in Hanoi, Vietnam.
From the educational exchanges, the citizens of Vietnam and the United States will gain a deeper understanding of each other and our respective histories and, thus, will foster and promote a closer and enduring friendship.
With that in mind, we invite you to learn more about VEF and to reach out for the opportunities that we provide.
Lynne McNamara, Ph.D.
