Biography

Dr. Stephen F. Maxner

Dr. Stephen Maxner is the Director of the Vietnam Center at Texas Tech University. After serving in the United States Army for six years, Dr. Maxner earned his Ph.D. in American History at Texas Tech with an emphasis on American Military and Diplomatic History. He has extensive travel experience in Vietnam and Southeast Asia starting in 1998. Since that time, he has participated in and supported the Vietnam Center Study Abroad Program, each year escorting TTU students to Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand. He has also been very active in promoting educational projects between Vietnamese universities and Texas Tech University, to include recruiting students and developing agreements that will help bring Vietnamese students to TTU. As the Vietnam Center director, he also plays a central role in hosting educational delegations from Vietnam to Texas Tech every year.
